Very few states have laws that prevent parents from homeschooling their children. Georgia does not prohibit parents from homeschooling based on their legal or criminal history. Only two states, Pennsylvania and Arkansas, prohibit some parents based on their criminal history or by someone living in the home.

While the standards were fully implemented in Georgia as of the 2013–14 school year, the state has withdrawn from the PARCC education consortium and will return to creating its own assessments to align with the current state education standards.
