Nevada requires families to report their decision to homeschool only one time. There are state required subjects. The NV government does not conduct any state assessments of homeschoolers.

Very few states have laws that prevent parents from homeschooling their children. Nevada does not prohibit parents from homeschooling based on their legal or criminal history. Only two states, Pennsylvania and Arkansas, prohibit some parents based on their criminal history or by someone living in the home.

There is no required level of education for parents in Nevada to educate their children at home.

State Subject Requirements

Parents must prepare an educational plan of instruction for each child covering “English, including reading, composition and writing, mathematics, science and social studies, including history, geography, economics and government” and “appropriate for the age and level of skill of the child as determined by the parent.” Not every subject must be taught each year.
