Wyoming requires homeschooling families to submit annual reports. There are state required subjects. The WY government does not conduct any state assessments of homeschoolers.

Very few states have laws that prevent parents from homeschooling their children. Wyoming does not prohibit parents from homeschooling based on their legal or criminal history. Only two states, Pennsylvania and Arkansas, prohibit some parents based on their criminal history or by someone living in the home.

There is no required level of education for parents in Wyoming to educate their children at home.

Wyoming State Standards and Common Core

Wyoming has employed a hands-off approach to Common Core implementation, providing few resources and allowing local school districts to choose how to implement Common Core standards. Wyoming has already rejected the Next Generation Science Standards.

Parents must provide a ”basic academic educational program,” which is defined as “one that provides a sequentially progressive curriculum of fundamental instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, civics, history, literature and science.”
