Flocabulary, a web-based learning program for all grades and subjects that uses educational hip-hop music to engage students and increase achievement, joins other prestigious names in education as a HomeschoolBase.com TOP 10 Educational Website of 2017.

As a TOP 10 website, Flocabulary also received the Purple Stamp of Approval, a brand endorsement by Homeschool Base to honor exemplary websites and companies that offer quality, innovative, unique, cost-effective, and/or significant value to teachers and homeschooling families. As a prerequisite for consideration, all websites must be nominated with high praise by multiple home educators.

What are homeschools saying about Flocabulary?

“Flocabulary is the best learning resource for challenging children to learn words that advance them in English, writing, and spelling.”

Homeschools think Flocabulary is truly a one-of-a-kind resource. According to our readers' testimonials, some students have made more progress after a week of Flocabulary than in 3-6 months with other (similar) programs. And although it was not specifically designed for students with learning disabilities, some homeschools have successfully used Flocabulary with these students.

“We absolutely love it. Instantly, my kids fell in love. I never stop referring people to Flocabulary. They don’t remember what I say, but they’ve memorized Flocabulary.”

Flocabulary’s 2016 Stats

Bringing 2016 to a close, Flocabulary published a year in review article citing company statistics and the year’s most popular units. Flocabulary is motivated to continually produce high quality content year after year. In 2016 they published 132 new units. This brings their total to over 800 units. During the 2016 year alone, Flocabulary was just shy of 10 million video views.

Compare and Contrast was the most popular video of 2016.

Who is behind Flocabulary?

Alex Rappaport co-founded Flocabulary in 2004 and holds a degree in music from Tufts University. Blake Harrison, co-founder and creative director at Flocabulary, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English. As CEO, Alex has been running the business and regularly speaks at national education conferences. As creative director, Blake manages the roster of artists and educators who create Flocabulary’s award-winning educational content.

Why is Flocabulary unique?

Flocabulary offers some of the highest levels of interaction that we’ve seen. Children react and engage with materials that they genuinely enjoy and Flocabulary’s humor is perfect for many children.

One great way to implement Flocabulary is using it as a primer or introductory material. Flocabulary does an amazing job of igniting interest in a subject. And once a child's interest is sparked, they want to learn more about it. From that point on, it is the parent or teacher’s call as to what comes next.

What is Flocabulary’s content breakdown?

“There’s a Flocab for that!” With 804 videos and lessons, there is almost always a “Flocab” for the subject you’re teaching. Entering into 2017, the video breakdown is as follows:

  • 72 math videos
  • 80 social studies videos
  • 137 vocabulary videos
  • 53 science videos
  • 23 life skills videos
  • 353 current event videos
