Smart Board Cost - Interactive Display Product & Price Comparisons
Five years ago, smart boards were not completely ubiquitous across American and European classrooms. According to Futuresource Consulting reports, in late 2016 interactive displays account for 54% of all new display purchases in education.
How Much Does A Smart Board Cost in 2024?
The cost of a new Smart Board will normally fall in the range of $1,500 to $6,500 depending on which model you buy.
Smart Board is no longer the only well known name in the Interactive Whiteboard market, but if you're dead set on purchasing a Smart Board you've probably noticed it is a huge pain to find the prices. Smart Tech, the producer of Smart Boards, does not list prices on their website. Instead, they will redirect you to a local reseller search page. SMART distributes their products through a three-tiered network of resellers.
If you are searching for an education discount, you'll find yourself on a sales representative contact form. After checking multiple reseller websites, I couldn't find a single one that publicly posted an updated pricing table. No one talks about this on social media or blogs.
Why is it such a pain to find prices? SMART resellers want to offer a wide range of accredited technical services, training, and more. They want to sell you on a package/service, not just a product.

Buying Guide and Ways to Save Money
- In order to purchase the newest SMART Boards, you will usually need to contact an authorized dealer (especially if you plan on using an education discount). Depending on your location, there may not be many options.
- When you see a price, or receive a price quote, make sure to find out what accessories are included. There are floor stands, wall mounts, speakers, connectors, extenders, and projectors (on older models).
- Don't feel like purchasing speakers is mandatory. SMART Boards work with plenty of speakers, although their SMART speakers are very good. You'll pay several hundred for these.
- If you purchase an old board that uses an overhead projector, you can attach an "off brand" projector instead of using SMART's.
- Amazon sells a selection of previous generation SMART Boards and competing Interactive Display boards.
- If your board is touchscreen, it will be multi-touch. The 2000 series does not have any touchscreen functionality at all.
- If your board comes with SMART Response units, beware that they are outrageously expensive.
- When you research SMART Boards you will discover there are many models and lots of competing boards.
- Attached projectors are much better than overhead.
- Installing a SMART Board yourself will save money (around $500 depending on the model), but there are several risks involved.
- You will risk voiding the warranty.
- Mounting the board improperly
- Damaging the board while installing
- Technology grants and SMART Board grants for schools can cover the cost of a SMART Board.
