If you have never heard of Thornton Burgess or his classic children’s books – then you are in for a treat!
Burgess loved nature and writing for children – so much so that he wrote for 50 years in books and newspapers. His stories are fun and engaging, while providing insight into the behavior and habitat of animals.
My kids have loved reading these books as a family. You can find nice paperback copies of them from Dover Publications or find the Thornton Burgess Bedtime Stories on Amazon. Or, you can get most of them for free from gutenberg.org!

Most of the books contain illustrations, but I have only found one with color images. The rest are black and white.
