Nature Stories for Young Readers

A great example of how public domain texts can be used for commercial projects is the series of nature readers Christian Liberty Press offers.  Each of these books (except volume 4) is a reprint of an older book that has fallen into the public domain.

The volumes have been edited and beautifully reprinted.  I highly recommend purchasing them for the nature buff.  However, if you are on a tight budget you can find these older versions for free.

In fact, I have already done the legwork for you.  Here are the first three volumes:
