Stories Of Our Mother Earth

Children want to know the relation existing between things in the world about them. I am thoroughly convinced also that they are capable of understanding many of the processes involved in the shaping of the earth, but because of the idea that the subject is too difficult, or from lack of proper familiarity with nature on the part of the teacher, these inorganic nature studies are more often neglected.

Most nature readers for children contain information about plants and animals.  The author of this reader did something different.  Harold Fairbanks wrote Stories Of Our Mother Earth to share with children the wonders of rocks, minerals, and the formations of our planet.

Chapter titles include:

  • A Handful of Sand
  • Where Our Salt Comes From
  • Caves
  • The Making of Mountains
