The Wonder Book of Horses
James Baldwin knew how to tell a great historical story. The author of Fifty Famous Stories Retold as well as numerous other historical readers for children, his greatest work might be The Horse Fair. 430+ pages of the historical accounts of horses, this book is a great addition to any history collection.
I am sharing the much shorter version here. The Wonder Book of Horses is a condensed collection of some of the better stories meant to be used as a school reader.
Eighteen stories from history and myth are included in this book. They include Bucephalus- the horse of Alexander the Great, Rakush and His Master, Rozinante- the steed of Don Quixote.
